What is the application process like? The application process is designed to be straightforward and efficient. Here’s how it works: Submit Your Application – Start by filling out the application form where you’ll provide your personal details, academic qualifications, and any relevant experience. This helps us assess if your background meets our requirements. Initial Review – Once you submit the form, our team will review your application to ensure you meet the criteria, such as subject knowledge and qualifications. Interview Stage – If your application looks promising, you’ll be invited to a short interview. What are the responsibilities of a tutor? As a tutor, your primary responsibility is to provide effective and engaging learning support to your students. This includes: Preparing Lessons – Plan and deliver lessons tailored to the student’s needs, focusing on areas where they need improvement. Explaining Concepts – Break down complex ideas into manageable steps, ensuring students understand the material thoroughly. Tracking Progress – Monitor the student’s performance over time, identifying strengths and areas for growth. Providing Feedback – Offer constructive feedback to help students improve and build confidence. Do I need to prepare my own materials?Yes, you will need to prepare your own teaching materials. However, we understand that this isn't always easy, so we are building a forum where tutors can share their resources and teaching ideas, creating a supportive community where you can collaborate with others. You won’t be on your own! That said, preparing materials tailored to the specific needs of your student is one of your key responsibilities. This ensures that each lesson is effective and meets the individual requirements of the student, helping them progress in their learning.

Do I need a background check?Yes, all our tutors are required to undergo a DBS check to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. This is a standard procedure for anyone working with young people, as it provides an official record of any criminal convictions or concerns. If you already have a current DBS check, you can simply provide us with the details after your successful application, and you can begin tutoring immediately. If you do not have one, we will arrange and pay for the DBS check on your behalf. The cost will be deducted from your earnings gradually, with a small portion taken from the money you make from the lessons you teach until the DBS check fee is fully paid off. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can pay for the DBS check yourself upfront, and you will not have any deductions from your earnings. This policy ensures both tutors and students feel secure, while also offering flexibility in how you handle the DBS check cost.
